Local Business Leaders Take Swing At Youth Education

HoustonWorks USA Annual Golf Tournament Raises Scholarship Funds

HOUSTON (June 3, 2009)—What could be better than spending the afternoon on the links improving your putting and also helping Houstonians in the process? That is the sentiment for those business and community leaders who are attending the 2009 HoustonWorks USA Annual Golf Tournament, presented by Perry Homes. This is an opportunity for local business and community leaders to come together in a fun, relaxed, yet competitive, atmosphere to show their support for Houston’s future leaders.

“We are honored to have such an amazing partner like Wildcat Golf Club,” said Larry V. Green Esq. and CEO of HoustonWorks USA. “Here we are on this amazing championship golf course, business and community leaders coming together to network and to raise money that will help our city’s workforce by providing youth scholarships and summer jobs.”
“HoustonWorks should be commended for their effort to help area youth receive the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. Partners like HoustonWorks make all the difference in turning dreams into hopes into realities for many deserving people, and I am so proud of the attention they are giving to our youth” said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

Held at the beautiful Wildcat Golf Club, which boasts two world-class courses, more than 120 golfers will test their skill playing on The Highlands Course which boasts dramatic elevation changes and breathtaking views of the Houston skyline. This year’s golf event is expected raise more than $100,000 to help area youth continue their higher education.

“When we heard about HoustonWorks USA and all of the fantastic work they do and especially their commitment to education, we just had to be part of it,” said Tim Loiodice, General Manager and Director of Golf, Wildcat Golf Club. “My hope for today is that everyone has a good time but realizes that their donations and pledges are going to help make a brighter future for some kids and in turn these kids will come back and do the same in the future. We’re all trying to do our part to continue to make Houston a better place.”
