Non Profit Continues to Assist Houston’s Youth
HOUSTON (November 11, 2009) – HoustonWorks USA today announced the guidelines for their annual scholarship program. A leader in providing services to youth for more than 25 years, HoustonWorks USA has played an integral role in preparing youth for a future in the local workforce. Through Youth Opportunity career centers, summer jobs program, internship programs with local employers, scholarships and other innovative programs, HoustonWorks USA is committed to serving youth in the Gulf Coast area.
“We are very excited to announce our 2010 scholarships,” said Larry V. Green Esq. HoustonWorks USA CEO. “HoustonWorks is committed to providing our community with a high performance workforce and one way to help achieve that goal is to assist our youth by making these dollars available for those going onto colleges, universities and trade schools. Last year we provided more than $20,000 in scholarships and this year we hope to top that number.”
More than 20 students and $40,000 in scholarship money has been raised during the past three years of the program. Scholarship applications are due into HoustonWorks USA by Noon on Monday, February 1, 2010. The Scholarship recipients will be honored at a Scholarship Luncheon in May 2010.
