HoustonWorks USA announces new Director of Finance

Seasoned executive brings 20 years fiscal and financial integrity to organization

HOUSTON (January 7, 2011) – HoustonWorks USA is pleased to announce that Rudy Martinez is the organization’s new Director of Finance.  Martinez, a former executive with the accounting firm MFR, brings more than 20 years financial management and leadership experience to the organization.

“I’m very excited to be joining HoustonWorks USA,” Martinez said.  “This organization has done so much during its 27 year history for the people of Houston.  With the way the economy has been the past few years, there is such a tremendous need for our services, I am looking forward to doing my part to help this organization as well as all Houstonians.”

Martinez will direct financial activities of quality assurance, purchasing and procurement of HoustonWorks USA staff and services.  As the executive fiscal officer, he will oversee budgets for the entire program roster which includes: workforce development, youth programs, scholarships, disaster relief and human services.  Martinez will also be responsible for all fiscal strategies, objectives, policies, procurement payroll, audits and information technology efforts.

A University of Texas-San Antonio alumnus, Martinez, is a certified public accountant and is accredited with the Texas Board of Public Accountancy.  His professional experience includes positions held at MFR, P.C., Deloitte Tax LLP, and Southwest Key Program, Inc. He is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  In addition, he serves on the board of directors for AVANCE and the TSPCA Diversity & Inclusiveness Committee.
