HOUSTON (March 24, 2011) – HoustonWorks USA will join the pride as CEO Larry V. Green, will be honored by the University of Houston (UH) Black Alumni Association at the 22nd Annual Scholarships & Awards Gala on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Hilton Americas Houston. The Gala will recognize Green as a 2011 University of Houston Black Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to share this honor with my fellow UH alumni as we celebrate Cougar pride and the impact the University continues to make in the city and nation,” Green said. “Supporting our local institutions of higher learning is an integral component of the mission of HoustonWorks USA.”
Since 2008, Green has led more than 500 employees in the organization with revenues in excess of $20 million, while directing the company through turn-a-round, growth and survival modes. Green led the Washington, DC office of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, serving as Vice President of Development and Government Affairs as well as serving as District Director to United States Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. As Principle Partner in his law firm, Larry V. Green & Associates, Green focused on employment, labor and general business law. After completing a bachelor’s degree in political science from UH, Green continued to earn a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
