HOUSTON (October 5, 2011) – More than 100 business and community members will hit the links for a cause at the 2011 HoustonWorks USA Scholarship Golf Tournament. The tournament, benefiting the agency’s scholarship fund, will be at 8 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at Redstone Golf Club at 5860 Wilson Road Humble, Texas 77396 and opens the HoustonWorks USA Putting Houstonians Back to Work weekend.
“The 2011 HoustonWorks USA Scholarship Golf Tournament is a unique opportunity where leaders from a variety of business, private and public sectors come together for a round of golf and to provide resources to assist students in fulfilling their academic potential,” Larry Green, CEO, HoustonWorks USA, said.
HoustonWorks USA Spokesman Brett Cullen and Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid will chair the tournament, which will feature celebrity players and exclusive prizes. The HoustonWorks USA Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $100,000 in merit-based educational grants to students pursuing higher education at vocational, public and private institutions.

Putting Houstonians Back to Work weekend concludes with the 2011 HoustonWorks USA Biennial Blacktie Celebrity Gala, Saturday Oct. 8, 2011 at the Hilton Americans. More than 800 guests will gather to honor elected officials, community and industry leaders for their commitment to strengthen the Houston/Gulf Coast community. Proceeds generated from Putting Houstonians Back to Work will benefit HoustonWorks USA employment and training opportunities for all local job seekers.
