Larry V. Green
CEO / Executive Director
Mr. Green, a Houston native, brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to his new role with more than 15 years of grants management, marketing and special events experience. Prior to joining HoustonWorks USA, Mr. Green led the Washington, DC office of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, serving as Vice President of Development and Government Affairs. Mr. Green's performance in development was well recognized, and facilitated significant growth of the Marshall Fund's annual revenue.
Mr. Green managed and was responsible for corporate, government sales and marketing teams. He directed foundation professional staff that supported Board initiatives aimed at securing substantial restricted and unrestricted revenue streams. He also worked as staff counsel on various legal matters. Mr. Green coordinated outside consultants and senior staff to develop a five year strategic plan for the Marshall Fund.
Mr. Green has worked tirelessly with congressional committee and subcommittee staff relative to the advocacy efforts of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, garnering enlarged support through TMCF for public HBCUs, and UNCF for private HBCUs.
Formerly, Mr. Green served as District Director to Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee and was responsible for the operation of three district offices and the oversight of the Member's Houston staff. Mr. Green developed outreach activities to promote programmatic services for constituents' residing in 18th Congressional District. Mr. Green organized and executed community events, press conferences and town hall meetings.
Mr. Green graduated from Madison High School and is a 1987 Graduate of the University of Houston with a B.A. in Political Science. He is a 1992 Juris Doctorate Graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. Mr. Green is a licensed member of the State Bar of Texas.
Ron Rodriguez
Director of Strategic Resources
Ron Rodriguez is a seasoned professional with over 20 years experience in the administration and implementation of employment and training programs for adults and youth. Ron has managed a network of seven career centers. From 1988 to 1999, he managed the HoustonWorks USA Summer Youth Program. Ron graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston in 1980. Ron is married with three children
Russell Tomlin
Director of Operations
Russell Tomlin is the Director of Operations and has been an employee since April 1987. Prior to joining HoustonWorks USA, he spent three years working in advertising. He is responsible for directing career office management operations to ensure compliance with franchise directives and performance, planning and implementing new programs and conferring with other manager to promote and increase customer satisfaction. Russell is married with three children and two grandchildren.
Monica Williams
Director of Resource Development
Monica G. Williams joined HWUSA as the Director of Resource Development in November 2008. An educational advocate and accomplished fundraiser, Ms. Williams has devoted twelve years to social services and the advancement of underrepresented groups by raising money to support unfunded priorities in underserved communities.
She is a native Houstonian and two-time Summa Cum-Laude graduate of Texas Southern University, Williams holds a B.A. in Journalism/English and an M.A. in Communications. She will graduate with a PhD in Educational Leadership in May 2009.
Kenneth Coleman
Controller
Kenneth Coleman is the Controller and joined the organization in July 1985. Prior to joining HW USA, he worked at Frito-Lay as an Accounting Specialist. He is responsible for recommending to management, major fiscal strategies, objectives, and fiscal policies. He manages employee payroll and oversees organization audits. Kenneth has a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in
Finance from the University of North Texas and Master of Business
Administration from Texas Southern University. Kenneth is married with
two children.
Sandra Dever
Hobby Manager
Sandra Dever has rejoined HoustonWorks as the new Office Manager of the Hobby location following a 5 year stint with SER. Sandra has been in workforce development for over 20 years, spending time with the Urban League, SER and HoustonWorks. While at SER, Sandra managed both the Northshore and Northeast offices. Sandra is married with 5 children.
Abe Flores
East End Manager
Abe Flores has been the office manager of the East End since its grand opening on June of 2006. He has been a member of the HoustonWorks USA team for 8 years. Abe started as a PSR at the Astrodome and later worked as a supervisor at the Pasadena office. He is a University of Houston graduate.
Tim Lopas
Northshore Manager
Tim Lopas is the Office Manager of our new Northshore office. Tim started out as an Employment Counselor at the Southwest office and later transitioned to the Clear Lake location. There he rose through the ranks to eventually lead the office. In September of 2008, he was chosen to open the new Northshore office. Tim has certifications in Hospitality and Business Management from both the U of H and Washington State. He is married with 4 children (all girls).
Kevin Rodney
Astrodome Manager
Kevin Rodney is the Office Manager of the Astrodome office. Before transferring to the Astrodome location, Kevin was a Customer Service Supervisor at the Downtown office. Kevin originally joined HoustonWorks from Employment and Training Centers where he was a Business Consultant for 4 years. Kevin is married with 2 children.
Iris Rush
Pasadena Manager
Iris is the Office Manager for Pasadena. Iris came on board with HoustonWorks USA in February 2000. She has worked in various positions since being hired that included WDS, EC, Team Leader, Supervisor, and Office Manager. Iris managed both the Clearlake and Pasadena Office. Iris is a graduate from Texas A&M with a BS in Sociology.
Priscilla Smith
Northline Manager
Priscilla Smith is the Office Manager for Northline. She joined HW USA in April 1999 as an Office Manager. Priscilla worked with Texas Workforce Commission for 23 years managing program, personnel, fiscal and facility issues. She has over 30 years experience in workforce development.
Rod Snyder
Southwest Manager
Rod Snyder is the Office Manager for the Southwest office. He joined the organization in February 1986 and has been an Office Manager since August 2004. Rod has over 30 years experience in the employment and training industry. Rod graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Rod is married and lives in Baytown.
Quoc Tran
Downtown Manager
Quoc Tran recently transferred from the Quality Assurance unit to become the new Office Manager of the Downtown office. Quoc began as a Workforce Development Specialist at the Northline office in 1998. He has worked as both a supervisor and Quality Assurance Coordinator along the way. A graduate of UT, Quoc is married with 5 children.
