HoustonWorks Original Logo Established as a local administrator of funds allocated by the Job Training Partnership Act and related legislation, HWUSA has served the Houston-area community since 1984. Since 1998, HWUSA has served primarily as a One-Stop career center operator. As a nonprofit organization, HWUSA is committed to providing employment and training services through strong partnerships between job seekers, employers, educators and community members.

In addition to services to adults, HWUSA has a long tradition of working with and serving Houston's youth. To this end, your support allows HWUSA to continue to provide innovative employment and training services to a wide range of job seekers.

What Your Support Means
HWUSA depends on support of individuals like you to provide services such as:

Annual Giving
Critical to the success of HWUSA is the annual giving campaign. Annual giving generates much needed support to allow HWUSA to continue to serve the employer community, adult job seekers and most importantly Houston's youth. The following giving levels have been established to assist donors in determining their level of support:

Throughout the year, HWUSA sponsors fundraising events to supplement the annual giving campaign. Sponsorships and underwriting opportunities exists to support the organization. Please contact HoustonWorks USA for information regarding future events.

Scholarships
Each year, HWUSA and it's employees hosts a ceremony to honor the achievements of local youth and to offer support through scholarships. Last year five $1,000 and one $2,000 scholarships were awarded. To review the criteria established for the scholarships, please go to the scholarship link. Download our printable form.

Mary Kay Merriman Scholarship
Established in 2006 in honor of Mrs. Mary Kay Merriman. She served as a HWUSA Board Member for over ten years, HISD teacher for over twenty years and held offices or served on committees for various organizations including the League of Women Voters. Mrs. Merriman left a legacy of dedication and commitment to the education of Houston's youth. In her name a $2,000 scholarship is awarded each year to the young person majoring in the field of education.

Individuals may choose to sponsor a scholarship or establish a scholarship. To do so, please contact the HoustonWorks corporate office at (713) 654-1919.

How to Support HWUSA
HoustonWorks USA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Gifts and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Gifts or contributions can be designated to support the general operating budget of the organization through Annual Giving, designated to support scholarships, or split between both categories. HoustonWorks USA accepts gifts of cash, check, and credit card contributions.
