The Career Bridge Program is designed to provide assistance to students transiting from high school to employment, higher education and vocational training. The program provides students with a roadmap to follow while they are preparing to transition. The program offers one-on-one career guidance, by working with students to determine their career interests and aptitude for long-term employment that would lead to a career.
Students have an opportunity to attend workshops, My First Job and Soft Skills: The Art of Effective Communication, and one-on-one coaching designed to meet the needs of perspective employers. Students learn how to successfully complete an application, apply for employment electronically and in person, interviewing techniques, professional dressing tips, resume writing and realistic expectations of meeting the needs of the employer.
With the new State assessment program, there is a greater emphasis on College and Career Readiness standards. Through the Bridge Program, professionals from banking to the medical fields have come to speak to the students providing them with a realistic view of those professionals. Students are able to determine what is required of them, the best classes to take to assist them with preparing academically for those professions.
This program is a vital and intricate part of ensuring, that the workforce of tomorrow is as good, if not better, than that of today. The Career Bridge Counselor works with local employers to solicit their assistance in providing full and part-time employment to students.
